Your right to self defense under attack update: House bills going to floor vote!
| From our friends at the Rhode Island 2nd Amendment Coalition: Get out your yellow shirts! The Rhode Island House and the Senate Judiciary Committees will be holding hearings on all gun bills this Wednesday and Thursday. House hearings begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. March 30th. Senate hearings begin at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 31st. The statehouse will open for in-person testimony so we need a strong showing of firearms owners for both hearings. These hearings were scheduled early in an attempt to LIMIT your ability to engage in the political process; however, we will be there late into the night so arrive wherever you can. If you do not want to testify just simply sign up in support of the pro gun rights bills and in opposition to the anti-gun bills. We are dangerously close to extremely restrictive anti-gun bills becoming law. Some examples include but are not limited to the following: ● Magazine restriction and confiscation (No grandfathering) ● A “single-feature “semi automatic ban with registration requirements and fees● Criminal background checks for all ammunition and reloading component purchases All bills can be found at https://www.ri2nd.org/ Legislation highlighted in yellow are bills we support. Red indicates anti-gun legislation. Some of these bills are in various stages of progression. For example, the House version of the AWB and mag restriction/confiscation have already advanced through the hearing process…meaning they’re closer to becoming law than they’ve ever been. However, you can express your displeasure with the idea of any anti-gun legislation passing regardless of its current disposition. Spread the word to all your club members and friends on social media. 2022 is probably the worst collection of bills we’ve ever seen. Sit on your hands and these become law.
